I could not resist the itch to jump-start this blogging venture with a music related post. I listen to music like some watch television, it gets me through the day. In college I couldn't complete an assignment with-out something playing on itunes. Fifteen minutes into starting a last minute paper and I would find my self using google search like an old record shop sells attendant. With a strong university bandwidth, I would end my schoolwork sessions with about a paragraph worth of paper material and five new downloaded albums.
While you can expect to find a lot of music on organicdialouge, it is not an album review site. Thats what heavy weights like whatsinmyheadphones, and blackouthiphop are for. However, I will post joints that move me, as I hear them. Below are a few visuals that have touched me, including my favorite Summer 10' joint: "Nothing but us". Brought to you by the good folks at CreativeControl.
As I listen to my new found music manna; I reflect on the popular argument that hip hop is the cause of the high amounts of violence, and the subjection of black women. I disagree with that agreement for a number of reasons, but I'll save that argument for another post. I will say the amount of music videos that use naked women as props has drastically decreased. Or maybe I'm not exposed to the material because my B.E.T. consumption has drastically decreased in recent years.
Ether way there IS good holistic material available, with less smokescreens. Coodie & Chike are "doing their thing" over at CreativeControl. All of the material is definitely not rated G, yet the placement always seems purposeful. I guess it helps when you have a guys like Ski Beats lacing the backdrops, and Dame Dash to govern recruitment.
